NEW - THE ALIEN'S FAREWELL

A piano duet premiered on Resonance FM in July 2014. I've written lots of music for young musicians and this piece began life as a piece for solo electronic keyboard. I adapted it for piano duet, to be played by Hugh Shrapnel and me, for a live broadcast on Carole Chant's Sound Out programme. The piece is not at all programmatic frankly descriptive. We hear the whirring of a space ship and picture the fond farewell between a visiting alien and a young human child. The space ship flies into outer space to the strains of a poignant melody, combining the musical styles of Rachmaninov and Steve Reich. In terms of difficulty it's about Grade 3-4. Hope you enjoy it!
